I saw this on Pinterest at least a week ago. I repinned it but didn't think much about it until Brendan decided to spend Monday cleaning out his closet. A dark blue plaid-ish shirt went onto the to-go pile. I snatched it right back off and whisked it away to the craft room.
So, this morning I got out the scissors and started chopping. By noon, that too small for Brendan unloved dress shirt had become a very loved sundress.
Super cute, huh? Sometimes I surprise and amaze even myself.
I changed a few things from the original tutorial, of course. I added lace trim around the bottom of the skirt, moved the button band to the back, sewed it closed, and ditched the pockets. I also completely changed the shape of the bodice, lined it, and added some decorative frou-frou.
How perfect is that lace? I'm so glad I decided to look again even though I would have sworn to you this morning that there was no lace whatsoever in my supplies.
Anna is supremely jealous. There just wasn't enough fabric in a Men's Small to make a dress long enough for her. She can wear it as a tunic top, if we ever manage to get it off Ellery. I have the feeling, though, we may be headed to the thrift store soon to look for another, longer dress shirt. And then definately to the fabric store for more lace.
