I broke out the graph paper, aida cloth and floss for my mom's and mother-in-law's gifts this year.
Little cross-stitched family portraits for each.
My favorite part of the whole thing is probably Sam's crazy hair. It's so him. And my hair. And Brendan's caveman beard. I designed us first. Spent the most time on us. And cross-stitched an extra to frame for our house.
Truthfully, the designing was a big old pain in the butt. Drawing and redrawing. Who's taller than who? What color is so and so's eyes? What would whosoit wear? Does that even look like them? Pain in the butt. I'm not sure I'll ever do something like this again. But, for these the frustration was totally worth it.
I wanted to turn my little cross-stitched family into our Christmas cards but I didn't want to give away the suprise. And, I didn't actually get around to the Christmas card thing this year. Maybe next year.
All in all, I started in July and finished two days before we headed to Grandma's house. All to become the favorite daughter and daughter-in-law. Hey.....wait a second, I'm the only daughter and daughter-in-law. Definately gift cards next year.
