Various and Assorted Crafties

I've finished up some random projects in the last couple of weeks

. First up, some Sunday bags for my girls.

I modified the same pattern I used to make my new bag- Noodlehead's Campfire Messenger Bag.  I made them shorter and wider. I also left out any zippers, internal pockets, and the buckles. I just wanted something simple for them to throw their scriptures, a notebook and a couple of pens into.

They each choose their lining, back pocket and accent fabrics.  I gave them a couple of options for the flaps. Ellery choose the parade print I've been hoarding for a couple of years. No worries- I still have plenty left.

Anna went with a patchwork rainbow option. She loves it. I love it. I almost kept it.

They turned out pretty much perfect. Pretty and useful- that's always the goal.

I also finished up a hat made with the leftover yarn from my happy socks.

Ellery's Baptism and the First Day of School

Exciting times around our household in the past week. This Saturday, Ellery was baptized.

She was so happy and excited. It was a great day.

And then, today, the kids finally started school! Hallelujah!

The local school district went back to school like two and a half weeks ago. We've all been anxiously waiting for their charter school to start.

First grade for this guy and an empty house for me. Every summer I let his hair grow wild so that I can enjoy his curls. I was all ready to give him his standard back to school haircut until we went to meet his teacher. She went into raptures over his curls. So, they stayed. We'll see how long they last now that he has to face a squirt bottle and a bru…
